About Me

My Real Name is Widia Kurnia Adi, I was born in Sragen in 1990. My pen name widi kurn, but I use Dr.Logam name in this blog , hoping to become an expert in the field of metallurgy and materials. Alhamdulilah I'm now given the opportunity to study at the Faculty of Engineering, University of Indonesia.

Really I was surprised to find out what widia means, which in the minds of most people is the name of a girl, but it was not. The following are some of the meaning of the name widia:

• Widia (hero), also known as Wudga, a hero in several early Germanic legends
• Widia (metal), hard material used for machining
• Widia (king), a king of Ashkalon in the 14th century BCE, who wrote several of the Amarna letters.
  

• Widia (of Wi'e Dia'mant) is a registered label name of the company Krupp for tungsten carbide, a sinter material.  

My surprise is the mean widia as metal, which materials that have high hardness properties, so use as a  precision-engineered metalcutting  .I hope I can become as hard as "widia", an unbeatable material by wear and unbeatable by other metals. With a violent effort and determination that I have hopefully become a useful expert. Amien

What Is Metallurgy and Materials Engineering?

Metallurgy and Materials Engineering is the discipline which studies the production, processing, characterization, selection, and design materials. Metallurgist's obligations is to design new materials, develop and modify the manufacturing process of materials, material selection, failure analysis due to the use of materials, and characterization of the structure and properties of materials.

Why I choose Metallurgy and materials

For me, the engineer is one who is always looking and trying to make something that people's lives easier and better. And the material is an important element in supporting people's lives for the better. History divides even the level of human progress based on their life-support materials (stone age, bronze age, iron age). A better life can be achieved by producing and engineer the appropriate materials and appropriate to support our lives in many ways. So "Without the material there is no engineering." Therefore, among the various existing engineering I chose metallurgy and materials engineering.

Technological developments that make our lives more comfortable going forward and in line with the development of materials. For example now, electronic equipment is so sophisticated and relies on a so-called component semiconductor materials. In other words "the development of materials to determine the development of technology". Without material no progress. "The best man is the most useful to other human beings". And metallurgy and materials engineering provides the opportunity for me than the others.

Another thing that encouraged me to major in metallurgy and materials engineering is the magic behind the material itself. I am stimulated to learn the material more deeply. Every time I learned about the material the more I realize how BIG and SUPREME POWER Creator behind it all. This gives a positive influence on my mental condition. I could be more grateful in this life.
